Dear Alumni of the Graduate Institute and Department of English Language & Literature,

The year 2025 marks a double celebration for Fu Jen Catholic University: the University’s 100th Anniversary and the 50th Anniversary of the Graduate Institute of English Language and Literature. Since its founding in 1975, the Institute has nurtured generations of scholars, educators, and professionals whose contributions have flourished in education, culture, language research, and the creative industries. Together with the Department of English Language & Literature, the Institute has played a central role in shaping Fu Jen’s legacy of humanistic values, academic excellence, and international engagement.

This year’s Alumni Homecoming adopts the theme “Two Circles: 100 Years of Glory, 50 Years of Sustainability.” The circle represents reunion and wholeness, symbolizing the enduring bonds of friendship and scholarship among our alumni. The intersecting circles evoke harmony and sustainability—celebrating a century of Fu Jen’s growth and half a century of English studies. This gathering is more than a reunion; it is a dialogue across generations and a renewal of our shared academic spirit.

This is the very first Homecoming organized specifically for the Graduate Institute (now the M.A. Program (two tracks)), and all B.A. alumni are warmly invited to join as well.
It marks not only fifty years of the Graduate Institute but also the Department’s first centennial milestone—a celebration of continuity, legacy, and collective pride.

The Homecoming will take place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at 9F, Chi-Shih Building, Fu Jen Catholic University. The event will feature:

• Reflections from faculty and former directors, tracing the Institute’s growth over the decades;
• Alumni sharing and thanksgiving, featuring stories, memories, and blessings from across generations;
• Tea reception and social gathering, rekindling old friendships and shared memories.

This Homecoming not only honors our past but also looks toward the future—continuing the spirit of English studies through sustainability, creativity, and human connection.

The same week coincides with Fu Jen’s Centennial Celebration, featuring university-wide events. We sincerely invite all alumni to return to campus and join this once-in-a-lifetime milestone. A centennial comes only once; let us celebrate it together.

FJCU English 50 Sustainability Donation Project

To honor this legacy, we are launching the FJCU English 50 Sustainability Donation Project. All proceeds will be dedicated to:

• Departmental development and facility enhancement;
• Teaching innovation and faculty support;
• Student scholarships, including the Fr. Stier Scholarship for English Majors.

This collective effort represents a shared dream among our alumni—a way to pass on the English spirit to the next generation. Acknowledgment gifts have been designed for each donation level, and details of fund usage will be published in our first 2026 Newsletter.

Follow-up Announcements

Further updates—including participating faculty, alumni greetings, and the detailed program agenda—will be released in upcoming notices.
