Letter from Mr. Tom Nash

Sept. 26, 2010

Howdy, alumni. In case you haven't heard, I retired from the English Department at the end of the 2008 school year, and taught part-time for the next year. Starting in late June 2009 I've been working as a copy editor at the Government Information Office. If you don't know what that is, you'll have to look it up. I work for an online news publication called Taiwan Today, at http://www.taiwantoday.tw, translating and editing news and editorials from Chinese to English, editing feature articles in English, and proofreading all the articles as they go online in the afternoon. If you want to see what I've edited or translated, look for my initials (THN) at the bottom of the article.

I still read voraciously, play basketball and body surf, play the harmonica and sing badly but with great feeling.

Now that you know what I'm doing, let me know what you're up to. I'm not hard to find—my home phone is the same as always, and my English Department e-mail still works. You could probably even find me at the GIO. I always enjoy hearing from you, and even better if possible, seeing you. And I don't remember or care about anyone's grades. My best wishes to all.
