27 October 2016
Dear Alumni,
Greetings from the FJU English Department! I'm writing to invite you to participate in an exciting upcoming event on campus: the College of Foreign Languages Christmas Booth Market, on December 1-3 (Thurs.-Sat.), 2016. At this event, each department of the College will sponsor several booths where alumni entrepreneurs will sell products to the university community, alumni, and visitors. We are especially interested in products that complement the Christmas season. We're aiming for the festive, holiday atmosphere of the famed European Christmas markets. We're also aiming to raise some money for the College's new De-Fang Building, which is now rising above Little Paris, where the Christmas Market will be centered.
The English Department will sponsor at least two large booths: one featuring food and drink, the other featuring flowers, fashion, and decorations—but other booths are possible as well. So, we are sending this open invitation to alumni who run businesses to consider selling your products at the Christmas Booth Market. The English Department will pay for the booth rental, and all alumni concessioners will donate 10% of their revenues to the English Department's Global Connection Room, which will be located on the 3rd floor of the De-Fang Building.
We expect sales at the market to be brisk. Hours of operation are Dec. 1-2, 12:00-20:30; and Dec. 3, 10:30-20:30. Dec. 3 is Alumni Homecoming Day, when campus will be teeming with students, alumni, and visitors. Every evening of the event, campus will be sparkling with FJU's legendary Christmas lights.
The Christmas Booth Market is a great opportunity for alumni entrepreneurs to showcase your business, support our department, and inspire our current students. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Julie (D20@mail.fju.edu.tw) in the department office.
I look forward to seeing you in December. Soon we'll send information about the Alumni Homecoming on December 3. Meanwhile, Happy Halloween!
Best wishes,
Joseph Murphy
