1.
為葉慈早期作品，受到十九世紀末的文藝風格影響，以些許逃避、回歸自
然的主題，來敘述自我的心境。
2. 當時葉慈以筆名出
版了一本主角為John Sherman的小說，故事主要為Sherman為尋求富裕的物質生活
而拋棄了自己的家鄉Sligo到倫敦去發展。這本小說中有一場景，葉慈讓主角在倫敦街頭上，發覺到自己與這
個繁華的城市有所疏離，而有遊子離家的鄉愁。

葉慈小說裡這片段的懷鄉惆悵，也是這首詩
對於家鄉心情的最佳詮釋。
remember an old day-dream of his. The source of the river that passed
his garden
at home was a certain wood-bordered and islanded lake, wither in
childhood he
had often gone blackberry-gathering. At the further end was a little
islet called
Inniscrewin. Its rocky centre, covered with many
bushes, rose some forty feet
above the lake. Often when life and its difficulties had seemed to him
like the
lessons of some elder boy given to a younger by mistake, it had seemed
good
to dream of going away to that islet and building a wooden hut there
and burning
a few years out, rowing to and fro, fishing, or lying on the island
slopes by day,

the quivering
of the bushes--full always of unknown creatures--and going out at

3. 本詩主要為三大部分段落(stanza)，分別以
(1) I will arise and go now...
(2) and I shall have...
(3) I will arise and go now...
作為起頭，以詩句的時態來看，敘者以期待
的心情及語氣來抒發情緒。
(1)的部分開始以「即將起身」(arise)點出急欲回到朝思暮想的家鄉去。同時勾勒出自己想要的田園
生活。
泥砌籬笆而成的小屋(a small cabin
build there, of clay and wattles made)
種上九行豆畦 (nine bean-rows) 為蜜群築巢 hive for the honey-bee
蜂鳴的林深處 (bee-loud glade)
(2)部分以and延續I
shall have 想像中的家園生活，尋求的是peace (平
靜)恬靜、自然的生活。
應該是蟲鳴鳥唱 (where the
cricket sings)，紅雀飛舞的傍晚(evening full of the linnet's wings)
深夜一片朦朧微光，日中當中午一片紫色光輝
(midnight's all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow)
(3)部分再度回應著首段的I
will arise and go now，以for always night and day(日日夜夜，不停的想著)
依然表達急切想要動身前往的意念。而這遲遲未能前往的原因，只因身在異地的大都市，灰濛濛的日子。
(While I stand on
the roadway, or on the pavements gray) 這與葉慈當時所在倫敦的生活所差不遠，
也就是身在物質富裕卻灰濛濛陰暗的大都市中，心中深處所掛念(in
the deep heart's core)的卻是
茵島小湖
湖水輕柔地拍打著湖岸(I hear lake
water lapping with low sounds by the shore)，思念鄉愁化作音響
迴盪在心坎裡。
4. 空間與時間
Here and there /
City and countryside
(1)此詩不僅是提及了時閒的變化，也包含著空間的移動。以我即將要動身前往(I will go arise and go now..)
作為時間的記號，將現在與訴諸未來未發生的事作連結。以現在此地(city
/London)到那地(countryside/Innisfree)
不斷的擺盪遊移。
(2)不斷的以具像的場景勾勒恬靜農村生活，如 a small cabin build there, of clay and
wattles made/
nine bean-rows/
hive for the honey-bee/bee-loud glade。藉以轉移現在所處的環境，或是忘卻自己的困頓。
試圖以祈求一絲平靜為目的(I shall
have some peace there)，加深
對自己勾勒的生活，並為夢想添加豐富的色彩。
(3)想像的空間由恬靜的鄉野生活，轉換到尋找心靈平靜的空間(in the deep
heart's core)。內心深處與外界的現實
將詩的空間如隨心中意識所向而相互交錯，相互並存。(While
I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements gray/I hear lake water
lapping with low sounds by the shore) |
