¡@ Butler had her first sciencefiction, Patternmaster, published in1976.  After that, she explores theseries of the first fiction by writing Mind of my Mind, Survivor,Wildseed, and Clay’sArk in the following eight years.  This series of SF depicts a elitegroups of four thousand-year-old immortal African ruled by Doro through mentaltelepathy.  What follow were herseries of Xenogenesis Triology, including Dawn: Xenogenesis in 1987, Adulthood Rites and Imagothe following two years.  She won James TiptreeAward over her Wildseed.  Since her first debut of Crossover in 1971, her works have appeared in severalanthologies.  She also has hershort stories collected and published in Bloodchild: Novellas andStories, including her famous pieces of "Bloodchild,""Childfinder,""The Evening and the Morning and theNight."  Among these works,the short story ''Speech Sounds'' won her a Hugo Award in 1984, and anotherHugo, Nebula, and Locus Awards for her ''Bloodchild'' in 1985.  Starting from the year 1993, Butlerbegan to develop her next series, called the “parable” series that contain, asyet, Parable of the Sowers, Parable of the Talents; among which, in1993, Parable of the Sowers won another Nebula Award, and it also earned a NotableBook of the Year in New York Times. In 1995, Butler was awarded for her devoted career in SF writing with aMacArthur Foundation Fellowship.

¡@ Octavia EstelleButler was born on June 22, 1947 in Pasadena, California.  She was raised by her mother, whoworked as a maid to earn the bread, because Butler’s father deceased when shewas a baby.  Butler grew up withattended California State University and the University of California at LosAngeles.  Ever since she strived toearn an associate degree from Pasadena Community College, Butler has beenworking hard to support herself; she worked several sweat-taking labour jobs tocontinue her study.  When she wasin the OpenDoor Program of the Screen Writers' Guild of America and the Clarion ScienceFiction Writers' Workshop, she was deeply influenced by Harlan Ellison, whoseencouragement made Butler to explore her writing in the field of sciencefiction, starting from 1970s.
