Required documents

I. Materials required by the University: Please refer to the
Office of International Education: Required Documents.

II. Additional documents required
1. Personal statement in English: Briefly explain your academic background, motivation, and possible research interests discussing two tentative research questions you might want to pursue in your thesis. Or discussing two tentative topics for your MA thesis research project
2. English transcripts from previous colleges or universities.

3. English term papers written by applicants as undergraduates. Papers with teacher’s comments or signature are preferred.
4. Please provide at least one of the following documents:
(1) Transcript of an English Proficiency test
(2-A) Creative Culture and Business Communication Track: English transcripts showing your completion of at least 3 courses related to culture and/or communication during your undergraduate studies, or other documents in English proving your proficiency in related fields.
(2-B) TESOL and Multimedia Instruction Track: English transcripts showing your completion of at least 2 courses related to Linguistics or TESL during your undergraduate studies, or other documents in English proving your knowledge and experience of teaching English. 

Admission evaluation

Two-stage evaluation
1. Material review
2. Written and/ or Oral exams in English (at the discretion of the exam committee; in person or via telephone or video conference)

Applicants entering the 2nd stage will be notified by the department office about the schedule of English written exam and/or oral interview. The applicant must provide a daytime phone number (Taiwan time) and an email address.

Remarks

1. All the courses are conducted in English. Applicants must have sufficient listening, speaking, reading and writing ability in the English language.
2. Most university required courses for the undergraduate program are taught in Chinese, so applicants to the undergraduate program should have good command of Chinese.
3. Students with visual impairment, hearing impairment, or mogilalia should consider the program’s demands carefully before applying, given the emphasis on reading, writing, and speaking.
