 第17屆輔仁盃全校英語演講比賽

宗旨目標:提昇全校學習英語風氣、增強口語表達能力,提供互相觀摩機會。

對    象:具輔仁大學學籍之在學學生(含進修部學生)
報名截止日期:111年4月26日(二)下午3:00止(逾期將不再受理報名)
報名表與押金繳交地點:英文系系辦公室LA303
比賽日期:111年5月4日(三)中午12:50至下午17:00 (參賽者務必於12:30前持學生證至報到地點辦理報到)
比賽報到場地:德芳外語大樓五樓孫志文紀念講堂FG507
 
 
(一) 參賽資格
英語為外國語者組English as Foreign Language Students Group (EFL):
  1. 具有輔仁大學學籍之在學學生(含進修部學生、非英語系國家且母語為非英語之外籍生或僑生)。
  2. 六足歲後未在英語系國家累計住滿兩年以上。
  3. 六足歲後未曾在各地區英語(含雙語)學校累計就讀三年以上。

(二) 比賽規則

  1. 出場順序:由本系安排,順序表將於比賽當場公告,請參賽者提早到場確認出場時間並於報到時繳驗學生證及領回保證金新台幣壹百元。
  2. 演講方式:分二階段
    第一階段:指定題目:Dulce et Decorum Est
    指定題目解釋: Dulce et Decorum Est 是一首由Wilfred Owen於第一次世界大戰期間創作的詩。這首詩的標題為拉丁文,代表的意思是:為國捐軀,是相當甜蜜、合宜及光榮的一件事。因此在參賽者的演講過程中,參賽者可以提及自身對於這首詩的詮釋,對於戰爭的想法,以及這首詩作與近年發生的戰爭(例如: 烏俄戰爭)之間的連結。
    請參賽者就指定題目自由發揮,指定題目解釋部分僅作為發想參考,不可看稿。
    指定題目部份每名3分鐘
    第一階段2分30秒響提示鈴,3分整響結束鈴,足2分45秒或未逾3分15秒者不扣分,超過或不足者扣一分,逾3分30秒停止發聲
    第二階段-即席演講:第一階段比賽前8名者(錄取決賽人數可能依情況調整),始得晉級參加即席演講比賽,題目於上台前10分鐘抽籤決定。參賽者依序抽題,每人準備時間10分鐘,第一位參賽者抽完題目5分鐘後,第二位參賽者開始抽籤,依序進行。
    即席演講部份每位參賽者2分鐘演講加上3分鐘評審問答時間
    第二階段1分30秒響提示鈴,2分整響結束鈴,足1分45秒或未逾2分15秒者不扣分,超過或不足者扣一分,逾2分30秒停止發聲
  3. 評分標準:
    口語表達(發音、語調、流暢度)與肢體表現30%
    辭彙變換、句式豐富性和文法準確性20%
    時間掌握10%
    合計100%
    總分相同時,依前項標準之順序分數高低決定名次。
  4. 講稿著作權有關事宜由參賽者自行負責。
  5. 第二階段比賽時,參賽者可以在10分鐘準備期間使用自備紙本字典查閱,其餘時間皆禁止使用字典。
  6. 兩階段上台演講時,皆禁止攜帶講稿或小抄。
  7. 全場禁止拿出手機,請一律關機。
(三) 報名:
  1. 報名名額:非母語人士共計30名,依報名順序受理,額滿為止。
  2. 報名時間:即日起至111年4月26日(二)下午3:00止,逾時不候。
  3. 報名地點:外語學院三樓英文系辦公室LA303。
  4. 報名費用:報名時,請繳交NT$100保證金與報名表一同交給英文系系秘書李玉鋆,保證金將於比賽報到後退還給參賽者。
  5. 報名方式:請至英文系網站下載報名表(連結:http://english.fju.edu.tw/word/2022_speech_contest_報名表.doc)
    於英文系辦公時間內、報名截止前持學生證以及填寫完整之報名表至英文系辦公室(外語學院三樓LA303)辦理。
 
(四) 獎勵:各組依總分高低取三名獲頒獎狀及獎金。
獎金如下:
第一名八仟元
第二名六仟元
第三名三仟五佰元

The 17th Fu Jen Catholic University English Speech Contest
 
Objectives:
To enhance students’ English learning progress, help improve their oral expression abilities, and create a mutual learning environment.

Contest Date and Time: 12:50-17:00, Wed., May 4, 2021 (Contestants must arrive by 12:30 with student ID cards.)

I. Qualifications
EFL (English as Foreign Language) Students:
  1. Students of FJU (including Continuing Education students and foreign students)
  2. Those who DO NOT meet ANY of these criteria: Those who come from an English-speaking country, OR have lived in English-speaking countries for two or more years from age six or above, OR have studied in English-speaking schools for three or more years from age six or above.

II. Rules

  1. Order of contestants: The order of contestants will be arranged by the English Department. The timetable will be announced on the day of the contest.
  2. Contestants should bring their student ID cards and 100 NT dollars for deposit.
  3. Contest schedule:
    Preliminary Round
    Prepared Speech (No script is allowed)
    Speech Topic: Dulce et Decorum Est
    Further Explanation for Prepared Speech Topic: “Dulce et Decorum Est” is a poem written by Wilfred Owen during World War I. The Latin title means “it is sweet and fitting to die for one’s country.” In the participants’ speeches, they can talk about the interpretations of the poem, thier own ideas about wars, and the connections between the poem and the wars happening in recent years such as the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
    Further explanation for speech topic is for the better understanding of the assigned topic. Participants’ still can organize their own ideas to develop contents and structures for the topic. Notes are not allowed when participants give prepared speeches.
    Three minutes for each prepared speech.
    The bell will ring at 2 min. 30 sec. as a reminder, and will ring again at 3 min. as a reminder of closure. A speech length falling between 2 min. 45 sec. and 3 min. 15 sec. will not be penalized; however, beyond this range (longer or shorter), one point will be deducted. Those who exceed 3 mins 30 sec. will not be allowed to continue delivering their speech.
    Final Round
    Impromptu Speech
    Those ranked in the top eight will enter the final round. The topic will be decided by drawing lots ten minutes before this section starts. Contestants will draw the lots in order, and each has ten minutes to prepare the impromptu speech. The second contestant will draw the lot 5 minutes after the first contestant, and so on for the third through sixth contestants.
    Two minutes are given for each impromptu speech, followed by a three-minute question time.
    The bell will ring at 1 min. 30 sec. as a reminder, and will ring at 2 min. as a reminder of closure. A speech length falling between 1 min. 45 sec. and 2 min. 15 sec. will not be penalized; however, beyond this range (longer or shorter), one point will be deducted. Those who exceed 2 min. 30 sec. will not be allowed to continue delivering their speech.
  4. Grading standard:
    Speech Content & Structure: 40%
    Grammar and Lexical Choices: 30%
    Delivery (Intonation, Pronunciation and Body Language): 20%
    Time Management: 10%
    When contestants have the same points, the person with the highest score for “Content” will win (if that is the same, too, the highest score for “Accuracy of language,” … and so forth).
  5. Contestants should take responsibility regarding plagiarism.
  6. In the ten-minute preparation time for the final round, contestants are allowed to bring paper dictionaries. Dictionaries are not allowed for any other time of the contest.
  7. Scripts and notes are not allowed for both rounds.
  8. Cellphones are not allowed in the contest.
III. Application
  1. Maximum contestants: 30 for the whole contest
  2. Deadline: 3:00 pm., Tue., April 26, 2022 (No late applications will be accepted.)
  3. Location: English Department Office (LA303)
  4. Cost: NT$100 as deposit. Please hand in the deposit money along with the application form to the department secretary. The money will be returned to you on the day of the contest.
  5. Registration:

    Please go to the office (LA303) with your student ID card, and hand in the completed form and the deposit money by the deadline.
IV. Prize
The top three in both groups will be awarded a certificate and a cash prize:
1st prize: 8000
2nd prize: 6000
3rd prize: 3500
